No More Lip Piercings

Ok please stop with the lip piercings already. Yes Little Wayne got his lip pierced. We heard about this at the 2008 VMA’s.

Lip Piercing Start

Yes people have been getting their lips pierced way before Little Wayne but dam this has turned into a fad. A trend, that needs to stop. Maybe its been going on, maybe I just noticed because my friends are turning 18 they want to be “rebellious” or signify being legal.

But No. Its seems to be dam near everyone is ready to get a hole in their lip. Its the thing of 2009. Skinny Jeans, Hot Topic, Lip Piercings, Tattoos, Come on. Can we please just go back to being ourselves. Sigh people are never themselves. If people focused on being themselves everyone would be better but ill get into that later.

Step one, stop with the dam lip piercings. I personally know about 5 people who just got them and I keep seeing it. Please pierce something else and lets not share what we pierce.

The thing is that you people are not understanding, is unlike metallic outfits, camouflage (in multicolor), bell bottoms a lip piercing leaves a hole in your face.

Find another way to “be cool”, try being yourself. If you dont know what that means it means go try to do something by yourself and dont care what your friends say. You like it buy it wear it stop questioing yourself.

2009 is about saying fuck you to the trends and finding your own dam idenity.

Black Kids

This Blog shoudl be called hella late or Extra Tarde, becuase im so slow on this really cool band called Black Kids ( only 2 of the 5 members are black). But they are hella fun, cute songs, and the lead singer is hot. I did some research, well if you count wikipedia and a couple interviews. But forget that. Its about the music. And this song is so great, I could dance to sing along and the music videos are orginial. I love original music videos, its very important to me.

I first heard about them on the sidebar of a website, and saw this music video:

I love most types of music so I enjoyed it, I really liked parts of the lyrics. Especially the lines ” Sure, I know it’s apocalypse
But can’t it wait til I kiss your lips?“

For some reasons those lines really got to me. I dont know why music videos are so important to me when judging an artist. Even when I know often the musician may not have much impact on it. I just like creativity.

Please stop send naked pictures, I mean sexting. I know i know its the thing to do, i mean all the teenagers are out sending naked pictures and all. But you KNOW they are going to be leaked. It happens to ALL of you, ALL the time. I go on my trip to LA, come back to the Internet and all this talk about Rhianna’s boobs, and Cassie’s boobs, and ugh. I mean everyone has seen boobs. Any person can get on a computer and goggle naked whatever they prefer. But just stop.
And Media come on now, they are just breast everyone has seen, taken or has a picture of someones breast. Lets not blow it out of proportion. We have such BIGGER things to deal with right now besides if some singer has a nipple piercing.
So to Celebrities: be a little responsible. and Media: STFU

I’ve never had $5,000 a year to spend at the mall, but that’s the average amount teens spend per year on retail, or at least it was. A new study from Piper Jaffray says teen spending is down 14 percent this year. My friend Rose Powell and I know all too well about cutting back.

Rose Powell: Now we definitely go, ‘oh we should go do this.’ And then the first question is always like, how much does that cost?

Rose and I used to go to movies all the time.

Powell: And like now, like we go ‘hey like who’s house are we going to, to sit around at and talk to each other?’

We’re definitely not shopping for new outfits these days, and we’re not alone. Clothing is one of the hardest hit categories — taking a 22 percent plunge. And that’s visible at my school. I don’t hear anyone bragging about their brand name jeans anymore.

Powell: There’s totally like kind of a stigma now for being like ‘oh I have hella money I just buy whatever I want.’ Cause you’re like ‘oh look at that rich kid over there who like is not economizing ooh.’

Other students don’t have the option of economizing, like 17-year-old Derek Williams. After his mom went on disability and his older brother got laid off, hanging out with friends became extremely difficult.

Derek Williams: My friends know my situation so they know sometimes that I don’t have money, and they want me to go out with them so they’ll…

So they’ll lend him the money, which makes Derek feel like he’s got to treat his friends like Wells Fargo.

Williams: The way I think about it is if, like, they the bank, so I took out this amount of money from them so I’m in debt and I pay it back.

For most teenagers, having a social life is an essential part of our identity, and sometimes it requires money. But teens like me are finding ways around this. Now I shop at thrift stores instead of department stores, and I even split $5 foot longs with my friends.

But I think this recession has prepared me for the future. I’m learning to budget and save money, skills some people have trouble understanding well into adulthood.
